The Munich Airport is one of the major airports in Germany, which is called in German as Flughafen München. This is a major international airport located at Munich, which is the capital city of Bavaria. As of now, Munich Airport is the second busiest airport in Germany in the number of passengers handled and also the seventh busiest airport in the entire Europe.
Last year, the Munich Airport handled more than 39.7 million passengers, which is a steady increase of 3% from previous years. As of late, Munich Airport is the fourteenth busiest airports in the entire world in passenger handling. It was the 30th airports globally back in 2013. The biggest foreign airliners from Munich in terms of number of passengers carried is Air Dolomiti. Terminal 1 of Munich Airport is the oldest terminal which started operating in 1992. This terminal has the capacity to handle 25 million passengers every year, which is divided into five different modules as A, B, C, D, E.
The Modules A, B, C, and D offer all basic facilities to handle arrivals and departures also having driveways and parking areas. The Module E is fully dedicated to handle arrivals. The Modules A and D are for flights within Schengen area and while modules B to C is for destinations outside Schengen. Module F is separated and stays close to Terminal 2 and handles high security flights.
The central Munich International Airport Center consists of many shopping centers, business offices, and recreation area. This corridor connects between the two terminals. There are also five parking areas and six underground parking space at the airport with nearly 30,000 parking slots and 16,500 roofed slots.
